AFTER DINNER SPEAKER
The choice of Malcolm Stent as our guest speaker was an inspired one.' Thus writes Mr T.E.M. Hope of the Association of Chartered Loss Adjusters. He continues.. ,,' 'His speech went down exceptionally well, was enjoyed by all the parties at the dinner and hit exactly the right note'
On that occasion there were some four hundred diners and distinguished guests. Size of audience does not worry or inhibit Malcolm, recently he spoke at The Federation of Engineering Employers Centenary Dinner. Amongst the nine hundred diners on that occasion was The Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire. Malcolm's speech followed that of The Chairman and Managing Director of The Ford Motor Company
He is, however, equally at home with the smallest of audiences and treats all with the same respect and courtesy. Malc's rule is that he never uses 'Blue Material' or 'Four Letter Words', his maxim is 'Clean Comedy for Grown Ups'. This brought him in 1997, a Citation Award from The College of Toastmasters' (only the second award by them in eighteen years) it reads...'In recognition of his outstanding and distinguished services, as an after dinner speaker, and to the performing arts'. This award means a great deal to Malcolm, as he says 'Toastmasters have to listen to every after dinner speaker on the circuit, and they voted unanimously for me', I'm very honoured'. A great honour for a great speaker, ask anyone who's heard him.
PRESENTER
Malcolm has hosted, compered and presented corporate events, conferences and launches in almost every exhibition hall, showground and conference centre in the U.K. He was the principal presenter with the B.B.C's Exhibition Unit, touring the 'Country Festivals' (The Royal, The East of England and The Royal Bath and west Shows) along with the International Motor Show (Earls Court).
AUTHOR
Malcolm's first book 'Go and Play Up Your Own End' is an autobiographical account of his childhood years, growing up in the 1950's Birmingham back-streets. This very funny, and sometimes moving story was in the 'Best Sellers' lists for months after its publication . The sequel, due soon, tells of life as a teenager in the sixties and looks set to be every bit as popular. Malcolm has written, directed and appeared in four pantomimes and has written a stage musical based on his book and album 'Go and Play Up Your Own End'
THE SHOW
These days, in addition to the above, Malcolm, as you may well know, is the writer, performer and now director of the very popular show, “Go and Play up you Own End”, (a play with songs.)
This show has, over the last six years, packed Birmingham's three theatres to capacity for two to three weeks at a time. A sequel to this show, entitled “Go and Play Further up you Own End”, is following very successfully in its footsteps.
