Pete became a professional musician in 1970 and, during the next few years, travelled extensively throughout the country, building a reputation as a fine singer/songwriter and an excellent guitarist, the latter particularly from his transcriptions of ragtime standards

He proved a firm favourite with audiences and became a regular repeat guest at clubs, universities and art centres.
At the end of the 1970's, family events persuaded Pete that he needed to retire from the folk scene to spend more time at home. Happily by the end of the 1990's, times and circumstances had changed and Pete is now back out of 'retirement'. He has returned to playing professionally, once again travelling widely around the country and often meeting people who remember him with pleasure from earlier days. The songs he is writing now are considered by many to sit well along side the best acoustic music of today.
Pete's new reputation is growing well. He has appeared at high profile events such as the Guernsey International Folk Festival, the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race, The Southsea Festival and the last two International Festivals of the Sea. (although he is at great pains to point out that he doesn't sing sea songs !).
Now living in the West Country, Pete is available for bookings through Perrotts Folly and we will be pleased to give you further information about his availability etc.

Discography
Second Time Around was released a few months after Pete's return to the professional music scene and comprises ten tracks written by him during late 2000 and early 2001, including 'Lil's rag', an homage to the days when he was best known as a ragtime guitarist. Several songs from it have already been taken up by other performers, so listen out for them at your local club.

Got it covered. Many people have asked for recordings of the covers that Pete performs , so this album features ten of his favourite songs by other writers. The most asked about song on the album -Rainbow connection is particularly special since it's best known performer is Kermit the Frog ! Pete's rendition tries hard to live up to that standard.

Beautiful Bridlington Town is a collection of songs inspired by Pete's early years in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. Displaying influences such as traditional English folk and Music Hall, it demonstrates Pete's versatility as a writer - and his Yorkshire sense of humour. Oh, and it's got a couple of sea songs too - well sort of.
The Man on the Moon - On his forthcoming summer 2004 tour Pete will be featuring songs from this, his forthcoming CD, due to be released later this year (studio time permitting).
