Biography


Karen was born in St Mawes Cornwall but grew up in Devon, she left home and art college in Torquay aged 17 to join contemporary jazz outfit "Ferment", the band lived in Mike Westbrook`s house in Harbertonford near Totnes .

Her voice has been featured on many national advertising campaigns and voice-overs, clients have included Midland Bank ( the Listening Bank ), Radio Rentals, National and Provincial and many more.

Karen featured on Gary Numan`s live (White Album) joining him on two national tours with appearances on Top of the Pops & Razzamatazz.

Whilst signed to Giorgio Moroder, she featured on his disco single ( I Wanna Funk With You Tonight ) taken from the " Knights in White Satin" album & has recorded and performed songs for writers such as Edd Welch, Spike Milligan and Les Reed .

In her own right Karen has had over 30 songs published, including two single releases under the name Yuka whilst signed to the late Chas Chandler, intensive air play, record of the week on Radio One, a  British chart position and a double winner on Granada's Fame Game talent show performing two of her own compositions.

She is currently recording an album of her own material, and enjoying a growing
reputation within the Jazz and Blues fraternity.

Karen performed at Bishopstock Blues Festival 2001 and has been featured on BBC Radio Devon, BBC Radio Cornwall, South Hams Radio and Gemini Radio. 

Karen performed three of her own songs live on the Paul Jones Blues Show BBC  Radio2 on December 19th 2002.
